Precision Reference Clock for Demanding Digital Audio Systems
The Matrix Audio SC-1 is a highly precise 10 MHz reference clock for streamers, DACs, and CD players with an external clock input. At its core is a specially developed OCXO with an SC-cut crystal, which achieves exceptionally low phase noise and high long-term stability through temperature-controlled regulation. Matrix Audio specifies phase noise of up to ≤ -118 dBc/Hz at 1 Hz, along with a warm-up time of under five minutes at 25 °C.
Four independently buffered BNC outputs provide synchronized 10 MHz signals, ensuring stable output impedance and high drive capability even when multiple outputs are used simultaneously. The SC-1 is available with either sine wave or square wave outputs, with the square wave version particularly optimized for precise clock synchronization. The unit also features a 1PPS reference input for external calibration.
The linear power supply with automatic voltage adjustment uses separate, multi-stage regulated circuits for the oven control and clock circuitry to minimize interference. A resonance-optimized enclosure with CBVB damping feet further supports a stable operating environment. With four BNC outputs, 50-ohm output impedance, power consumption of less than 20 watts, and dimensions of 330 × 267 × 97 mm, the SC-1 positions itself as a specialized master clock for high-end digital audio chains.
