“People want performance, but what they remember is how seamlessly it fits into their lives. In this project, the brilliance lies not just in the acoustics, but in how every centimeter was designed to deliver joy without friction — even when half the world was locked down.”
Michael Kraske

Challange
The basement was uninspiring and poorly built—ventilation, A/C, & electrical systems all needed full redesign. Tight urban space, pandemic restrictions, and the need for acoustic insulation beneath a boutique storefront added complexity and multi-year delays (2017–2022).
Solution
- Maintained project momentum and clarity through focused communication and engagement (kept stakeholders informed, involved, inspired).
- Designed an active bass array to save space and crafted bespoke ceiling insulation plus bass traps for tight acoustic control.
- Engineered under-/overpressure zones to separate climate between cinema and spa.
Gear & Tech
- Speakers: Credo Cinema front array, 12 × Credo Cinema Surround, 4 × Credo Cinema Sub 12
- Configured in Atmos 9.4.6 multi-format layout
- Processing & amplification: Storm Audio processor and amplifiers
- Projection & Screen: JVC reference projector, Screen Innovations acoustically transparent screen
- Cabling & Power: Van den Hul & Supra cables, IsoTek and Van den Hul power filters, HDMI over fiber
Customization
- Custom-built speaker wall mounts and ceiling mounts
- First installation of the Cinema Array front modules (derived from Cinema LTM)
- Fabric testing for acoustic properties, painted ceiling with specific gloss grade
- Design of acoustic-wall-panels
Collaboration
Remote coordination with an exceptional Parisian team: Guided via detailed instructions and component shipments during the pandemic. Once travel restrictions eased, installation was seamless, precise, and fully prepared.
